Medeama defender Nurudeen Abdulai has received his first call-up to the Black Stars for the crucial clashes against Madagascar and Comoros in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The 19-year-old, pivotal in Medeama’s Ghana Premier League triumph in the 2022/23 season, has been recognized by the Black Stars technical team led by Chris Hughton for his defensive talent.
Abdulai, with 30 appearances in Medeama’s title-winning journey, scoring three goals and earning four Man of the Match awards, proved his significance to the team. In the new season, he has already made 10 appearances.
This talented defender is the third Medeama player to earn a call-up under Hughton since he took charge in March, highlighting the quality of the Ghana Premier League champions. Jonathan Sowah and Abdul Fatawu Hamidu were previously invited by Hughton for Ghana’s assignments against the Central African Republic and Liberia in September.
The Black Stars aim to recover from recent defeats to Mexico and the United States of America in international friendlies as they prepare to face familiar opponents Madagascar and Comoros in crucial qualifiers.
Their first match is at the Baba Yara Stadium on November 17 against Madagascar, followed by an away game in Moroni against Comoros.
