Hopes of Ghanaian midfielder, Mohammed Kudus securing big-money moves to Liverpool have taken a major hit following Mohamed Salah’s decision to extend his stay at Anfield.
The Black Stars midfielder had been identified as potential successors to Salah, whose future at Liverpool had appeared uncertain earlier this year with his contract set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.
However, on Friday, April 11, 2025, Liverpool confirmed that Salah had signed a new two-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2027. The Egyptian’s extension effectively ends speculation around his immediate departure and drastically reduces Liverpool’s urgency to bring in a new winger this summer.
Kudus, who has long been on Liverpool’s radar since his days at Ajax, was viewed as a like-for-like replacement for Salah due to his dribbling and goal-scoring abilities. But the West Ham midfielder has endured a dip in form this season, managing just three goals and two assists in 25 Premier League appearances.
While Kudus remains exciting prospects, their chances of joining Liverpool in the upcoming transfer window have dwindled with Salah’s continued presence set to dominate the club’s attacking plans for the near future.
