Ghana international Lawrence Ati-Zigi has dismissed speculation over his future, insisting his complete focus remains on St. Gallen as he prepares for another campaign with the Swiss club.
The Black Stars goalkeeper, whose contract runs until June 2027, says he is fully committed to helping St. Gallen build on last season’s success after the club secured qualification for the UEFA Europa League by winning the Swiss Cup.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Ati-Zigi stressed that he has no distractions despite reports linking him with a move away following his impressive performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“I still have a running contract with St. Gallen, and currently I’m focusing on that. I’ll be playing in Europe with St. Gallen next season, and I hope to make myself and the club proud,” he said.
The 29-year-old was instrumental in St. Gallen’s memorable Swiss Cup triumph and is now expected to play a key role when the club faces Portuguese powerhouse Benfica in the second qualifying round of the Europa League.
Ati-Zigi’s stock has risen significantly after an impressive World Cup campaign with Ghana in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
He started the Black Stars’ opening group-stage victory over Panama before an injury forced him to miss the next two matches of the tournament.
The experienced shot-stopper returned for Ghana’s Round of 32 encounter against Colombia after replacing the injured Benjamin Asare, producing a remarkable display despite the Black Stars’ narrow 1-0 defeat.
Ati-Zigi made a series of outstanding saves to keep Ghana in the contest and was widely hailed as the team’s standout performer on the day, further enhancing his reputation on the international stage.
His impressive displays for both club and country have inevitably sparked transfer interest, but the former Sochaux goalkeeper has made it clear that his immediate priority is St. Gallen as he looks forward to competing in both the Swiss Super League and European football next season.
