Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum attributed his team’s narrow 1-0 victory over Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park on Sunday to their self-belief and determination, rather than tactical adjustments.
Speaking after the crucial win, Ogum praised his players for their mental strength in overcoming the challenges of playing at one of the most intimidating venues in Ghana.
“It’s about self-confidence; it’s about determination. Playing in Dormaa has nothing to do with tactics. It has everything to do with the confidence of the team, the determination of the team, the aggression of the team, and, I think, the calmness of the team,” he said.
Ogum also commended his side’s composed approach, explaining that matching Aduana Stars’ aggression would have been counterproductive.
“If you look at the way we played, we were very calm because I know the venue to be an aggressive venue, and if you come aggressively, it wouldn’t help,” he added.
The victory snapped Kotoko’s four-game winless streak in the Ghana Premier League, providing a much-needed morale boost for the Porcupine Warriors.
With renewed confidence, Coach Ogum and his team aim to carry this momentum into their upcoming matches as they work to climb the league table and restore their title ambitions.
