Borussia Dortmund honored Ghana coach Otto Addo with a fitting farewell as he departs the club to focus on his role with the Black Stars.
Addo, a former Ghana international, decided to conclude his nearly eight-year tenure as the club’s player development coach. During his time at Dortmund, he played a crucial role in the development of several notable players, including Erling Haaland of Manchester City and Jude Bellingham of Real Madrid.
While at Dortmund, Addo also managed to juggle his responsibilities with the Black Stars, guiding Ghana to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. However, in February, the 48-year-old accepted the position of substantive coach for the Black Stars following the dismissal of Chris Hughton.
In his recent duties with Ghana, Addo led the team in friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in March, where the Black Stars lost to the Super Eagles and drew with the Cranes.
The former FC Nordsjaelland coach is set to arrive in Ghana this week for his official unveiling. He will meet the press and release his squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic in June.
