Speculations are rife that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is seriously considering reappointing Otto Addo as the new head coach of the Black Stars, following his impressive performance in the job interview.
The vacancy for the head coach position arose after the departure of Chris Hughton, following Ghana’s disappointing campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
In response, the GFA formed a committee tasked with finding a suitable replacement, outlining specific criteria for the search process.
Currently, Otto Addo appears to be the frontrunner for the role, with ongoing discussions between him and the football association.
Recent reports suggest that Addo has significantly bolstered his chances by receiving the highest marks among all coaches interviewed for the position.
This wouldn’t be Addo’s first stint with the Black Stars. He previously served as the interim head coach in early 2022, succeeding Milovan Rajevac. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in Ghana’s successful qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, notably defeating Nigeria in two legs.
Despite a challenging World Cup campaign in Qatar, where Ghana managed only one win against South Korea, Addo’s leadership and expertise have earned him strong consideration for the prestigious role once again.
Having also contributed to the success of German giants Borussia Dortmund, Addo’s potential return to the Black Stars helm could herald a promising new chapter for Ghanaian football.
