FC Samartex head coach, Nurudeen Amadu, has acknowledged the difficulty of their match against Bibiani Goldstars, stating that his team could have secured a win if they had been more clinical in front of goal.
The Timber Giants came close to sealing their second win of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) season but were held to a 1-1 draw in the outstanding match-week 2 fixture. Emmanuel Mamah opened the scoring for Samartex with a penalty in the first half, but Kelvin Oppong’s equalizer in the 75th minute saw the points shared.
In a post-match interview, Amadu expressed frustration over his team’s lack of finishing and the impact of missing key players but emphasized the need to find solutions regardless.
“We knew it was going to be a difficult game. We didn’t play badly, but our attack is a bit weak, and we need to work on that to get the goals,” Amadu said. “You can see our attacking potency is weak. It’s affecting us, and we need to be more clinical.”
Despite the draw, FC Samartex remains unbeaten in the league with one win and two draws from their first three matches.
The Timber Giants will look to improve their attack when they face Karela United at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex in their next fixture this weekend.
