Phase two of construction at the BetPawa Park, located at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram, is set to commence, according to an announcement made by Ntoudi Mouyelo, Managing Director of Mchezo Limited, the operators of BetPawa.
Mouyelo shared this update during a press conference on Tuesday, explaining that a revised contract has shifted the project to a “locker room contract,” which allows stadium work to continue independently of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
“This is a pure CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative between us and the contractors,” Mouyelo emphasized.
Phase one of the BetPawa Park was completed in August and included a playing field, substitute benches, and changing rooms, making the pitch ready for use. This construction fulfills part of BetPawa’s commitment under a contract with the GFA, signed two years ago.
The initial agreement with the GFA, announced on August 3, 2022, involved a three-year, $6 million sponsorship of the Ghana Premier League, with the contract also calling for the construction of a new pitch at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre, now known as the BetPawa pitch. Despite BetPawa’s decision to end its league sponsorship a year later, the company has maintained a constructive relationship with the GFA, ensuring that the BetPawa project continues unaffected.
The second phase will introduce new facilities to the BetPawa Park, enhancing infrastructure at the center and supporting the broader growth of football in Ghana.
