English Championship club Sunderland has officially unveiled Ghanaian midfielder Salis Abdul Samed, who joins the Black Cats on a season-long loan from French Ligue 1 side RC Lens.
Salis, a key player for Ghana’s national team, is eager to contribute to Sunderland’s goal of securing promotion back to the English Premier League. The midfielder expressed his excitement about the move, highlighting his positive discussions with Sunderland’s Head Coach and the club’s passionate fanbase.
“I’m very happy to be here,” Salis said during his unveiling. “I spoke with the Head Coach about the project and how the supporters love the club, so it seemed like a good place for me to progress. I know the Head Coach well from his time at Lorient, and his best friend was my coach at RC Lens, so they had some discussions about me.”
Despite Sunderland’s impressive start to the season, Salis emphasized the importance of maintaining their momentum. “To win four games in a row is very difficult, but four games is not enough. We need to continue working hard and getting more wins,” he added. “I’m a competitor and I love the competition for places—we work as a team and move forward together.”
Unfortunately, Salis Abdul Samed will miss Ghana’s upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger due to fitness concerns.
