Aboubakar Ouattara, the coach of Hearts of Oak, has attributed his team’s recent struggles to psychological challenges, impacting their performance on the field.
Despite a rough patch, the Phobians made a stunning comeback with a decisive win against Berekum Chelsea during matchday 29 of the Ghana Premier League.
Expressing relief after the game, Ouattara emphasized the importance of the victory in boosting the team’s confidence as they approach the critical phase of the campaign.
“I expected to win. It’s football; we can win by 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 but we needed the points. I told you we had a mental problem. We have some people who want to pollute the minds of the boys… it was a psychology problem,” Ouattara stated post-match.
Hamza Issah’s 12th goal of the season kickstarted the scoring, followed by strikes from Linda Mtange and Kassim Cisse, sealing a much-needed win for the Ghanaian giants.
Hearts of Oak will be back in action in Accra in two weeks’ time as they prepare to face Aduana Stars.
