French Ligue 1 clubs Brest and Stade de Reims has shown interest in acquiring Ghanaian international Salis Abdul Samed during the current transfer window.
The 24-year-old midfielder, who joined Lens in 2022, has been excluded from the first-team squad alongside his teammate Stijn Spierings.
This development is a significant blow for Salis, who has been an important player for both Lens and the Ghana national team. Lens head coach Will Still made the decision to reduce the squad size due to limited spots, with plans to move Salis out before the summer transfer window closes.
Reports from France indicate that Brest is keen on bringing Salis to their team on loan from Lens. The club is eager to strengthen their midfield with the addition of the Ghanaian midfielder and has already approached Lens for a possible deal before the transfer window ends.
However, Montpellier and Saint Etienne, who were previously interested in Salis, have reportedly ended their pursuit of the player.
Salis Abdul Samed joined Lens from Clermont Foot in 2022 and quickly became a key figure for the team, helping them secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League after finishing second in Ligue 1 two seasons ago.
