Austrian side SV Ried has confirmed their failure to reached an agreement with Ghana international Kennedy Boateng over the extension of the player’s contract.
According to the club’s sporting director, the financial demands of the player has made it difficult for both parties to reach an agreement.
Boateng has been with Ried for the last four years but will now turn his attentions elsewhere following the expiration of his contract.
Speaking to the media, sports director Wolfgang Fiala said: “We made him a very fair offer. But we can’t keep up with his demands.”
The left-back since returning from his initial loan spell has been a vital addition to the Austrian side and was integral for them during the course of last season, making 24 appearances in the process.
The defender also contributed to four clean sheets during his 20 starts in the Bundesliga.
Boateng joined Ried on a permanent basis after failing to make a significant progress in the LASK team.
