Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey played a vital role in Brighton & Hove Albion’s impressive Premier League victory over Manchester United.
Lamptey provided two crucial assists during the match and was substituted after 77 minutes. Despite having less possession, Brighton managed to secure a thrilling win.
Brighton entered the game with confidence, riding a three-match winning streak against Manchester United in previous league encounters. Meanwhile, Manchester United, who had been unbeaten at home for 31 games in all competitions, started strongly. Marcus Rashford created numerous scoring opportunities, but it was Brighton who opened the scoring in the 20th minute. The goal, orchestrated by Simon Adingra’s precise cross and cleverly finished by Danny Welbeck, marked Brighton’s 16th consecutive away league match with a goal.
Although Manchester United responded positively and Rashford came close to equalizing, they faced setbacks, including a disallowed goal before halftime due to Rashford’s out-of-play infringement. In the second half, Brighton capitalized on their chances, with Pascal Groß extending their lead, and João Pedro sealed the victory with a brilliant strike.
Despite a late consolation goal from Hannibal Mejbri, Manchester United suffered their third defeat in five league games, while Brighton’s performance propelled them into the Premier League’s top three.
