Kwame Opare Addo, the Communications Director of Ghanaian football giants Hearts of Oak, sheds light on the future of midfielder Salifu Ibrahim as his contract approaches its end.
Joining the Phobians from Eleven Wonders in 2021, the 23-year-old is set to see his contract expire at the conclusion of the current season.
Earlier local media reports hinted that the talented midfielder might not renew his contract beyond June.
However, in an interview, Opare Addo offered a glimmer of hope to Phobians fans regarding a contract extension.
“We are still in talks with the player and his representatives, as and when everything is concluded, we will not hide it from anyone”
“But I can confirm the club is very much interested so we are in serious discussion with him” he said.
He further affirmed the club’s keen interest in retaining Ibrahim, emphasizing ongoing serious discussions with him.
Ibrahim played a pivotal role in Hearts of Oak’s triumph in the Ghana Premier League during the 2021/22 season, ending an eleven-year trophy drought for the club.
In addition to the Premier League title, the midfielder boasts several other trophies, including FA Cup and President’s Cup titles.
Throughout this season, Ibrahim has demonstrated his prowess, tallying two goals and providing nine assists in 28 appearances for the Phobians.
