Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer, the forward for the Black Stars, has expressed his determination to assist the senior national team in ending Ghana’s 41-year trophy drought.
Despite coming close to winning the prestigious African title on three occasions since their last victory in 1982, the Black Stars have been unfortunate.
In an interview, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer expressed his sadness over the fact that the four-time African champions have not secured a trophy for such a lengthy period. “It’s disheartening that Ghana, as a country, hasn’t won a trophy in 40 years,” he told GhanaWeb.
The SV Hamburg attacker emphasized that the current Black Stars squad is determined to change this narrative and give their best in the upcoming tournament. “The entire squad here wants to change that. We are eager to win a new trophy, but we can only achieve that by working together,” he said.
While Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer desires to play a significant role, he acknowledges that he is a young player and is willing to wait for the more experienced members of the team. “I want to contribute my best, but I understand that I still have room for improvement,” he added.
Having switched nationalities from Germany to Ghana, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer has been included in the Black Stars’ squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Madagascar.
Additionally, he has been selected for the Black Meteors’ squad for the U-23 AFCON, which is set to take place in Morocco.
