Brighton and Hove Albion full-back Tariq Lamptey has pulled out of Ghana’s squad for the final two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed on Monday afternoon that the 24-year-old is suffering from calf discomfort, which has ruled him out of the upcoming fixtures.
“Calf discomfort that got aggravated last week and currently undergoing rehabilitation with his club,” the GFA said.
The former Chelsea player missed Brighton’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City and has featured in only one Premier League match this season.
The Black Stars will open camp on Monday evening in Accra ahead of the crucial qualifiers scheduled for later this week and early next week.
Ghana will face Angola on Friday, November 15, in Luanda, before concluding the qualifiers at home against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18.
Currently, Ghana sits third in Group F with just two points from four games, leaving their qualification hopes in the balance. The Black Stars must win their remaining matches and hope Sudan, with seven points, lose both of theirs in order to qualify.
