Ghana’s former vice president of the Football Association, George Afriyie, has expressed concern about the Black Stars’ inability to defeat Sudan in their recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match. Despite creating many chances, Ghana drew 0-0 against Sudan in Accra last Thursday.
Afriyie believes there are unanswered questions surrounding the team’s performance, particularly given their dominance in the match.
Ghana’s hopes of reaching the upcoming tournament in Morocco have taken a hit after a draw in their last match. A subsequent loss to Libya has further jeopardized their chances.
Now, Ghana needs to win their remaining games and hope for a double loss for Sudan to Ghana’s chances of reaching the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) are at risk. Currently in third place in Group F, they have only two points from four games, putting them on the brink of missing the tournament for the first time in two decades.
“There are so many unanswered questions as to why we failed to win here [in Ghana] and those questions you the media must ask them,” Afriyie told Joy Sports.
The Black Stars will have two more opportunities to qualify in November, facing Niger and Angola in the final two group matches.
