Ghana’s path at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has become clearer following the Black Stars’ placement in Group L with England, Croatia and Panama—three teams that promise a competitive and demanding group stage.
Head coach Otto Addo has already set a confident tone for the campaign, expressing strong belief in his squad’s potential on the global stage.
“We want to win every match. On a good day, I know we can beat everyone,” he stated, signalling Ghana’s intention to approach the tournament with ambition rather than fear.
The draw also drew reaction from the Ghana Football Association’s Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, who acknowledged the quality Ghana will face—especially from Europe.
“We are going to meet one of the most consistent teams in Europe in England. They have a good team,” he said, noting the challenge but also the opportunity for Ghana to prove its strength.
England remain one of the top contenders in world football, while Croatia—2018 finalists—bring experience and tactical discipline. Panama, known for their intensity and physical play, will also be determined to cause surprises.
With Ghana preparing for its fifth World Cup appearance, expectations continue to rise. Otto Addo’s confidence, combined with the GFA’s clear-eyed assessment of the opposition, sets the stage for a spirited and competitive journey when the tournament kicks off across Mexico, Canada and the United States next summer.
