AJ Auxerre captain and Ghana international Elisha Owusu has expressed his heartfelt desire to represent his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
“It would be an honour and a big blessing to play the World Cup for my country,” Owusu told reporters. “But I try not to think about it too much. For me, life is about process. I take it day by day… and leave the rest to God,” he said in an interview with Flashscore.
Owusu, who was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, sees the upcoming tournament as both a challenge and an opportunity.
The Black Stars are drawn in Group L alongside football heavyweights England, Croatia, and Panama, a mix that promises high-stakes encounters and a chance to leave a lasting mark on the global stage.
For the Ghanaian midfielder, the World Cup is not just about personal glory, but about contributing to the nation’s footballing legacy. With steady club form and international experience, Owusu is determined to be ready if called upon when Ghana steps onto the world stage next summer.
