Spanish side RC Celta de Vigo have completed the permanent signing of Ghanaian youngster Bernard Somuah Sarpong from Asante Kotoko SC, handing the winger a long-term contract that will keep him at the club until June 2030.
The 19-year-old initially joined Celta in August 2024 on a loan-to-buy arrangement, but after a series of eye-catching performances, the Spanish outfit activated his purchase option to secure his services permanently.
Somuah’s progression through the club’s ranks has been rapid. Following his early spell with the Juvenil A side, he earned promotion to Celta Fortuna, where he made his Primera Federación debut against Zamora CF.
Since breaking into the reserve team, he has accumulated over 800 minutes of action, scoring five goals and consistently troubling defenders with his pace and technical ability. One of his standout moments came in a dramatic victory over CF Talavera de la Reina, where he struck a stoppage-time winner to seal a crucial comeback.
His performances have played a significant role in Celta Fortuna’s push for promotion, with the team currently sitting second in the table on 48 points as they chase a historic achievement.
