Assistant Black Stars coach Desmond Ofei says the players are fully motivated as Ghana prepares for its international friendly against Mexico later this month.
The Black Stars will face the North American side on May 22 as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico this summer.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz and his technical team have named a 23-man squad for the encounter as they continue fine-tuning the team ahead of the global tournament.
Speaking to Flashscore, Ofei explained that the squad includes a blend of local league players and promising young talents eager to prove themselves.
“For the upcoming game against Mexico, we have selected a very talented and ambitious group of players from our local league, alongside some exciting U23 talents and players who are highly motivated to show their qualities to the nation and to our new head coach, Mr Carlos Queiroz,” Ofei said.
After the Mexico test, Ghana will conclude their World Cup preparations with another friendly against Wales on June 2.
The Black Stars, who will be making their fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
Ghana will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 before taking on England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
