Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, have officially begun training in Puebla as preparations continue for Friday’s international friendly against Mexico.
The team arrived in North America on Sunday to begin final preparations for the highly anticipated encounter, which forms part of their build-up toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The global tournament, set to kick off in June, will be hosted jointly by Mexico, the United States and Canada.
Training sessions are scheduled to continue throughout Wednesday and Thursday as the Black Stars fine-tune their strategies before facing the World Cup co-hosts on May 22.
Head coach Carlos Queiroz and his backroom staff are expected to use the match to evaluate players before naming Ghana’s final squad for the Mundial.
The friendly is also seen as a valuable opportunity for emerging talents and fringe players to impress the technical team and strengthen their chances of securing spots in both the Black Stars and Black Meteors teams.
The clash against Mexico is expected to provide Ghana with a strong test as they intensify preparations for the biggest football tournament in the world.
