Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko SC are reportedly considering the appointment of English trainer Andrew Danylyszyn as the club’s next head coach following a difficult and underwhelming campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors are believed to be exploring several options ahead of the new season as management looks to rebuild the team and restore the club’s competitive identity after a season that has left supporters frustrated and demanding major changes.
Kotoko entered the campaign with high expectations, hoping to challenge strongly for the Ghana Premier League title and compete effectively in domestic competitions. However, inconsistent performances, poor results in crucial matches and a lack of attacking sharpness saw the club struggle to maintain momentum throughout the season.
The team endured several disappointing outings both home and away, dropping valuable points against lower-ranked sides and failing to establish the dominance expected from one of Ghana’s most decorated football clubs. Defensive lapses, inconsistency in midfield and an inability to convert chances regularly became recurring problems during the campaign.
Supporters also expressed concerns over the team’s style of play, tactical direction and overall mentality, particularly in high-pressure fixtures where Kotoko failed to produce convincing performances. The growing frustration among the fanbase increased pressure on the technical team and club hierarchy as results continued to fluctuate.
Despite moments of promise during the season, Kotoko were unable to put together a sustained run of victories capable of reigniting their title ambitions. Their performances in key fixtures against direct rivals further exposed weaknesses within the squad and intensified calls for restructuring at both the technical and administrative levels.
Club officials are now believed to be prioritising a long-term rebuilding project aimed at returning Kotoko to the summit of Ghanaian football and re-establishing the club as a strong force on the African continent.
Andrew Danylyszyn has emerged as one of the names under consideration as management evaluates potential candidates capable of leading the rebuilding process. The English coach is reportedly admired for his tactical discipline, player development approach and modern coaching philosophy.
Kotoko’s interest in a foreign coach reflects the club’s desire to introduce fresh ideas, improve professionalism and strengthen the technical structure ahead of next season. Management is said to be looking for a coach who can build a competitive squad, improve consistency and develop a clear playing identity capable of producing results.
The possible appointment also comes at a time when the club is expected to make major decisions regarding player recruitment, squad restructuring and the future of several members of the current team.
With expectations always high at Asante Kotoko, the next managerial appointment is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the direction of the club ahead of the new campaign. Supporters will now be eager to see whether the club settles on Andrew Danylyszyn as the man to lead a new era at the Baba Yara Stadium.
