Ghana international Abdul Baba Rahman has pledged that the Black Stars will give everything on the pitch to make Ghanaians proud at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The tournament officially kicked off on Thursday, June 11, 2026, with Ghana set to open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in what is expected to be a decisive Group L encounter.
Ghana are making their fifth appearance at the World Cup after qualifying for the expanded edition jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
After the opener against Panama, the Black Stars will face European heavyweights England and 2018 finalists Croatia in what promises to be a demanding group stage.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Baba Rahman expressed appreciation for the support from Ghanaians and stressed the team’s determination to deliver on the global stage.
“We thank Ghanaians for the support and prayers. We are going to fight to make Ghanaians proud at the tournament,” he told AshesGyamera.
Ghana are still searching for their first World Cup knockout stage qualification since their memorable 2010 campaign in South Africa, where they reached the quarter-finals.
The Black Stars have previously featured at the World Cup in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022, and will be hoping the 2026 edition marks a turning point in their recent tournament struggles.
