Dutch defender of Ghanaian origin Pele Van Anholt has refused to move to Cyprus despite receiving an offer from a club there.
The 29-year-old right-back is currently a free agent after being released by NAC Breda this summer but he admits he does not fancy a move to Cyprus despite receiving an offer from an unnamed club there.
“I’m not worried, it is still early on the transfer market. There are plenty of things passing by,” Anholt told BN De Stem.
.”The offer from Cyprus I got looked interesting, but I didn’t feel very well about it. We all know the stories from those kinds of countries that the payments are suddenly no longer made.
I am not a volunteer. After a month I will not take that gamble now, because I do not want to be back in the Netherlands after a month with the famous story: an adventure richer, an illusion poorer. always nice, but in practice it is sometimes disappointing.”
Anholt has previously played for clubs including Heerenveen, FC Emmem, LA Galaxy and a host of others.
He was born to Dutch father and Ghanaian mother in the city of Sneak and holds passports of both countries but yet to represent any of them at any level.
