AFC Toronto announces the arrival of Ghanaian midfielder Linda Owusu Ansah, bolstering the club’s midfield for the 2026 Northern Super League Season.

The 19-year-old joins AFC Toronto from Ghanaian Champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC, one of the country’s most decorated clubs, for an undisclosed fee.

Owusu Ansah was a key contributor at the highest  levels of African women’s club football in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League and the CAF Women’s Champions League. She previously represented Supreme Ladies FC from 2021 to 2023 before joining Ampem Darkoa. Owusu Ansah arrives in Toronto with significant Youth International experience.

Having been a member of Ghana’s U15 and U20 national teams, she recently played a central role in Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup — scoring the crucial goal in the 78th minute of the second leg against Uganda to send Ghana through to the tournament in Poland.

“Linda is an exciting young talent who will add creativity and energy to our midfield,” said Billy Wilson, Technical Director. “She is technically gifted and possesses all the physical attributes needed to excel at the highest level. Despite being only 19 years old, Linda already has five years of professional experience, during which she has competed in the CAF Women’s Champions League, won league titles, and become an important part of Ghana’s youth national team setup. We would also like to thank Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC for providing Linda with a strong development platform and for their support throughout this process. We are delighted to welcome Linda to Toronto and look forward to supporting her as she adapts to her new environment.”

“Linda is an exciting young talent who brings energy, creativity, and a winning mentality to our attacking midfield,” said Head Coach Marko Milanović. “She has competed at the highest level of African club football and stepped up in critical international moments. Her profile is exactly what we are looking for as we continue to build this squad.”

“I am so excited to join AFC Toronto and be part of this journey,” said Owusu Ansah. “This is a huge opportunity for me, and I am ready to give everything I have for this club and this city. I can’t wait to get started.”

Born in Kumasi, Ghana, Owusu Ansah cites Asisat Oshoala as her football idol. Beyond the pitch, she has a
background in visual arts and a passion for both art and design.

Linda signed with the Club prior to the NSL Transfer Window closing on April 24th and joins her teammates
following the successful processing of her Canadian Work Permit. She is available for selection immediately.
