Africa’s representatives for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup—Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, Esperance de Tunis, and Wydad Casablanca—are set to receive a guaranteed $50 million each for participating in the tournament.
The competition, revamped to feature 32 teams, will bring together elite clubs from across the globe. This includes 12 from Europe, six from South America, five from North America, four from Asia, and one from Oceania. Africa’s four spots will be represented by top clubs from South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco.
FIFA has significantly raised the stakes by increasing the total prize pool to $2.65 billion. Every team will receive a minimum of $50 million, with additional performance-based bonuses. The champions will walk away with an extraordinary $100 million.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino hailed the new format as “innovative, inclusive, and groundbreaking.” The redesigned tournament will showcase a custom-designed 24-carat gold trophy created by Tiffany & Co., symbolizing prestige and global progress.
Set to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025, the expanded Club World Cup shifts from its traditional seven-team annual format to a quadrennial competition. The revamped tournament offers clubs not only a global platform but also unprecedented financial incentives.
