Ghana Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor is happy following the 2-0 win over Sudan at the Cape Coast Stadium in a 2021 AFCON qualifier on Thursday.
Ghana needed goals from mercurial skipper Andre Ayew in each half as they saw off the Falcons of Jediane to maintain their top spot in Group C.
Akonnor who was handing the Black Stars in a competitive game for the first time mentioned that he was impressed with the performance a he continues to build his team.
“I feel good, I am grateful to the players for showing a lot of commitment. The preparation was a difficult situation but in the end we won and it feels good.” He stated after the game.
“There are a number of positives to pick from the game. A player like Nettey played for the first time and he did well. All he needs is another chance.”
“It wasn’t t the best of performance but I am very happy for what we have produced today. We kept a clean sheet and that’s the most important thing. We are expecting some players tonight who will join us for the return leg in Sudan.”
The Black Stars will travel to Omdurman for the return leg on Tuesady.
