Asante Kotoko defender Samuel Frimpong has expressed excitement following his side’s 2-0 away win against Karela United in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors have taken the top spot on the Ghana Premier League standings after an emphatic 2-0 victory over Karela United who were the leader leaders until Sunday’s defeat.
Kotoko are on top of the league table for the first time this season with 23 points as Karela drops to the second spot on 22 points.
It was the first-ever defeat of Karela United on home soil as goals from Kwame Poku and Imoro Ibrahim claimed victory for the team currently coached by Johnson Smith.
Imoro broke the deadlock in the 36th minute before Poku scored the second in the 61st for the Porcupine Warriors and personally his 7th of the season.
Karela United would be disappointed with their performance as they created several decent goalscoring chances but the likes of Diawisie Tayor, Kwame Boateng and Frankly Osei failed to be clinical.
Frimpong took to social media to express his delight.
