Christopher Bonsu Baah has earned his maiden call-up to the Black Stars for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
The 20-year-old forward, who plays for Belgian club Genk, has been recognized for his impressive performances in the Jupiler Pro League.
This season, Bonsu Baah has made 27 appearances, registering three goals and three assists. Primarily a left-footed right-winger, he is also capable of playing as an attacking midfielder. His strengths include exceptional dribbling skills and confidence in one-on-one situations.
While playing for Norwegian club Sarpsborg 08, he led the Eliteserien with 57 successful dribbles and created 10 scoring opportunities before securing a five-year contract with Genk in 2023.
Bonsu Baah began his football journey in Ghana with Shooting Stars before making the leap to European football. Now, he has the opportunity to prove himself on the international stage as Ghana seeks to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, following their disappointing failure to reach the 2025 AFCON.
Ghana will play Chad on March 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium before heading to Morocco for a crucial clash against Madagascar on March 24. Bonsu Baah’s creativity and attacking flair could provide a significant boost to Otto Addo’s squad in these decisive fixtures.
