Ghana’s Black Meteors will play South Africa in the third place game of the Caf U23 Cup of Nations tournament.
The Black Meteors were on Tuesday defeated 3-2 on penalties by Ivory Coast after a pulsating 2-2 drawn game after 120 minutes of entertaining and thrilling football.
South Africa on the other hand, were beaten 2-0 by hosts Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium in the second game of the day.
This means that Egypt will play Ivory Coast in the finals of the competition with the two teams already qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s Black Meteors will need a win over South Africa on Friday in the crucial encounter to enable them seal qualification to the 2020 Olympic Games.
The last time Ghana qualified for the Olympic Games was in 2004.
