31-year-old Cameroonian footballer, Karl Toko Ekambi has announced his retirement from the Cameroon National Team via his Instagram handle.

Toko Ekambi, who recently joined Al-Ettifaq from Abha has played for Villareal, Lyon, Rennes, Sochaux and Angers.

The Indomitable Lions star made his debut for the Cameroonian National Team on 6th June 2015 in a 3-2 win over Burkina Faso in a friendly game. He won 61 caps and scored 16 goals.

Toko Ekambi was part of the Cameroonian team under Hugo Broos that won the 2017 AFCON. The Indomitable Lions finished 3rd in the 2021 AFCON, Toko Ekambi played a crucial role in that tournament.
