Alhaji Karim Grusah, the bankroller of King Faisal, expressed his discontent after the club’s protest against Tamale City Football Club was dismissed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee.
The protest was related to the alleged fielding of an unqualified player during their match in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
In its ruling, the Committee stated that their investigations confirmed the player in question, Isaac Mensah, was qualified to participate in the game. A communique on the Ghana FA’s website stated, “The GFA Disciplinary Committee has dismissed King Faisal FC’s protest case against Tamale City FC in relation to their betPawa Premier League Matchweek 30 game which was played at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
King Faisal FC protested against their opponent for fielding an unqualified player, Isaac Mensah, in the said match, who they claim has another registration in the system as Jireh Kojo Nissi.
The Disciplinary Committee, however, ruled that the player Isaac Mensah who played in the said match was duly qualified to play.”
Alhaji Grusah expressed his frustration with the ruling, stating in an interview with Akoma FM that if he didn’t have strong religious beliefs, he would have resorted to violent actions.
He exclaimed, “If I wasn’t a religious person who fears God so much, I swear, I would have bought a gun and shot the disciplinary committee members for such a ruling”
“The player in question had a double identity. The same protest was filed against Skyy FC by Nations FC, and they won it. The player himself confirmed it in an interview. That alone should have won the case for us.”
The veteran football administrator further stated that his club would not give up and would take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) if necessary. He vowed to pursue the case until justice is served.
