Former Ghana youth international Philimon Baffour has completed a move to Portuguese fourth-tier side O Elvas SAD during the January transfer window. The 23-year-old has signed a deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the season.
Baffour joins O Elvas after parting ways with CD Alcains, another club in the Portuguese lower divisions. Sharing his excitement about the move, the former Dreams FC player wrote on Instagram: “New chapter, new home, happy to be part of O Elvas family. Let’s go. THANK YOU JESUS.”
The former Africa U20 AFCON winner initially moved to Portugal from Ghana Premier League side Dreams FC to join Rio Ave, where he played for their U23 team. However, his time at Rio Ave lasted only one season, as he struggled to break into the senior squad.
In a statement announcing the signing, O Elvas highlighted Baffour’s achievements: “The right-back is a young international for his country, winner of the CAF U20 AFCON, and has already been called up to the senior national team, as reported by CD Alcains!”
Baffour made his debut for O Elvas on Monday evening, featuring in their match against Arronches as he begins this new chapter in his career.
