Vision FC triumphed over Medeama SC in a pulsating five-goal clash at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema on Saturday, marked by late drama, red cards, and a missed penalty.
The hosts started on the front foot, with Joshua Rhule firing them ahead just four minutes into the game. Frank Duku doubled the lead before halftime, giving Vision a commanding 2-0 advantage. However, Duku missed a crucial penalty in the 61st minute, squandering a chance to further extend the lead.
The game took a fiery turn five minutes later when a heated altercation saw both Medeama’s Emmanuel Cudjoe and a Vision player sent off.
The reduction in numbers sparked a Medeama resurgence. Bernardinho Tetteh reduced the deficit in the 67th minute, and Michael Sarpong brought the visitors level with a composed finish in the 83rd minute.
Just as it seemed the match would end in a draw, Vision’s Emmanuel Kyei Baffour emerged as the hero, scoring a dramatic winner deep into the 10th minute of stoppage time, sending the home crowd into raptures.
Medeama enjoyed the lion’s share of possession with 56% and created more goal attempts (8) compared to Vision’s 7. However, Vision were the more clinical side, converting their chances with four shots on target compared to Medeama’s two.
The victory ends Vision FC’s four-game winless streak, propelling them out of the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Medeama’s two-game winning run came to a halt, dropping them to fifth place in the league standings.
Up next, Vision FC will travel to face Young Apostles, while Medeama SC will aim to rebound when they take on Karela United.
