Abednego Tetteh, the forward for Bibiani Goldstars, has expressed his disappointment after not being selected for the upcoming AFCON 2023 qualifiers with the Black Stars.
Ghana coach Chris Hughton extended invitations to 25 players for the crucial game against Madagascar, set to take place on June 18, 2023. Late inclusions saw Bechem United forward Hafiz Konkoni earning a call-up, making him the sole representative from the Ghana Premier League in the squad.
Despite Tetteh’s impressive form, he was overlooked for the qualifiers, leaving him disheartened by the absence of a national team invitation.
During an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, Tetteh acknowledged his disappointment at being left out and shared his sentiments. He said, “I’m only human, so naturally, I feel bad about not being included. However, there is nothing I can do about it but to wish them success against Madagascar. We will support them in their efforts to deliver a positive result.”
Tetteh experienced a resurgence in his form after joining Bibiani Goldstars during the latter half of the domestic top-flight season. Prior to his move, he had only managed to score two goals for King Faisal in the first round of the season. However, following his improved performance at Goldstars, Tetteh emerged as the top goal scorer, netting a total of 18 goals between his time at King Faisal and Goldstars.
