Ghanaian youngster Douglas Owusu has crowned an outstanding campaign by winning the Serbian Super Liga title with Red Star Belgrade following the club’s successful season.
The 20-year-old attacker joined the Serbian giants during the January transfer window from fellow top-flight side FK Radnik Surdulica and quickly settled into life at one of the biggest clubs in the Balkans.
Despite arriving midway through the campaign, Owusu made an immediate impact with a string of energetic and influential performances that helped strengthen Red Star’s push for the title.
The talented Ghanaian forward finished the league season with an impressive return of nine goals and one assist across his spells with Radnik and Red Star, underlining his growing reputation as one of the most exciting young Ghanaian players in Eastern Europe.
Owusu’s rapid rise has been one of the standout stories involving Ghanaian footballers abroad this season. His impressive displays during the first half of the campaign attracted strong interest from Red Star, who moved quickly to secure his signature in January.
Since making the move, the youngster has continued to show maturity, confidence, and attacking quality beyond his years, seamlessly adapting to the demands of a title-challenging side.
Winning the Serbian Super Liga crown marks the first major trophy of Owusu’s professional career and represents another important milestone in his development.
His performances are also expected to place him firmly on the radar of Ghanaian football followers and national team observers ahead of the new season.
With confidence high and silverware already secured, Owusu will now aim to build on his breakthrough year and continue his development at Red Star Belgrade next season.
