Former Ghana U23 international Kwame Poku was once again on the scoresheet for Peterborough United as they played out a 2-2 draw against Leyton Orient in an English League One clash on Tuesday.
Poku, who has been in fine form, netted for the third consecutive game as Peterborough came from behind to secure a point at Brisbane Road in London.
The match began with Leyton Orient taking the lead in the 20th minute, thanks to a goal from Welsh defender Thomas James. However, Poku restored parity in the 42nd minute when he connected with a pass from young teammate Malik Mothersille, making it 1-1.
Peterborough then went ahead just before halftime when Ricky-Jade Jones was fouled in the box by Leyton goalkeeper Zachary Hemming. Mothersille calmly converted the resulting penalty to give Peterborough a 2-1 lead.
The home side fought back in the second half, with American striker Charlie Kelman finding the equalizer in the 53rd minute. His shot took a deflection, wrong-footing Peterborough’s goalkeeper Jed Steer and leveling the score at 2-2.
Leyton Orient also fielded English-born Ghanaian forward Daniel Agyei, who started the match and played 80 minutes.
Poku has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2024-25 season, scoring 5 goals in 7 appearances for Peterborough United.
