Togbe Afede, the board chairman of Hearts of Oak, has emphasized that the club’s aspirations to win trophies remain undiminished, despite their significant investments in infrastructure.
Hearts of Oak is nearing the completion of their state-of-the-art Pobiman training facility, which offers top-notch training amenities. The club’s players are now training and residing at this facility.
During Hearts of Oak’s annual general meeting, Togbe Afede reassured everyone that their primary goal is still to win trophies.
“While we are making all these investments, let me assure you that we are still focused on winning trophies,” he emphasized.
Togbe also highlighted the benefits of the Pobiman training facility, noting that it has reduced the players’ travel time to training, which not only saves the club money on fuel but also keeps the players fresh and alert.
He explained, “Before Pobiman, the team had to travel for hours to pick up players, which meant the bus started five hours ahead of training and took a long time to pick everyone up. This made the players spend hours in the bus. Now, thanks to Pobiman, the bus no longer needs to go around picking players. This has eliminated the costs of fuel and prevented players from becoming fatigued. They wake up and are on the pitch within seconds. That’s why we expect so much from them, even though the results have been underwhelming. They no longer have to endure long bus journeys, which allows the coach to have two training sessions per day because the players are all at the facility.”
