Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has acknowledged that the club’s fans suffered due to the team’s struggles to secure results throughout the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
The Ivorian coach made this statement following his team’s 2024 Gbese Mantse Homowo Cup victory over Heart of Lions.
Ouattara expressed pride in the club’s triumph, stating that it was a much-needed boost for the fans who had to endure a difficult season. He hinted that his revamped team will soon be competing in the Ghana Premier League, which starts on September 6, 2024.
“I’m proud because of the fans of this big family, who is the Hearts of Oak family. I’m proud because last season all these people suffered and after I think this trophy is just the beginning of the league,” Ouattara said. “Maybe you can see new look Hearts of Oak in the league soon.”
The Rainbow lads survived relegation last season on the final day of the season, finishing the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season at the 14th position with 45 points. A dramatic 3-2 victory in their final match against Bechem United helped the team avoid relegation.
Hearts of Oak are busy in the ongoing transfer market to bolster their squad for the upcoming campaign.
