President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku has denied having any rift with Black Stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor.
Reports were rife in the media that the relationship between the two has deteriorated and they have not been in talking terms over the past year but Kurt Okraku insists he has a great and strong relationship with the former Kotoko, Hearts and Dreams FC gaffer.
“First of all, I’m the leader of the FA family, the leader of the Executive committee. The Exco makes appointments and that includes the appointment of coaches for the national teams,”
“If the ExCo is not happy with any coach, the coach will not be at post. Once a coach is at post, it means the ExCo led by my good self have a healthy working relationship with the coach.
He continued: “If you’re involved in the world of football, rumors and perspectives, people trying to read others minds which is scientifically impossible always comes into play.
“If I don’t believe in CK Akonnor as the head trainer of our Black Stars, obviously, I will convince my Executive Committee to come along with me that he is not the right guy.
“Charles Akonnor is our coach, we have to support him to be successful, I trust him, just as any other person, we may differ into how things need to be done, but once he is there, it means I trust him, and I will support CK Akonnor to bring back the love the Ghanaian people, just like I have trusted Abdul Karim Zito and he brought back the love, he won the AFCON,” Kurt Okraku added
