Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has hit back at suggestions that his side gifted Asante Kotoko the win following their 1-0 defeat in the highly anticipated Super Clash on Sunday.
The game, played at a tense pace, saw both teams create opportunities, but Albert Amoah’s injury-time strike proved decisive for the Porcupine Warriors.
In his post-match interview, Ouattara dismissed claims that Hearts handed the victory to Kotoko, responding emphatically:
“When you look at my face, do you think I’m Father Christmas to gift something to somebody? Someone made an effort to win the match. Do not disgrace that win. It’s not a gift we gifted to Kotoko.”
The late defeat has left Hearts fans frustrated, with many believing the goal could have been avoided. The loss also adds to mounting pressure as the Phobians struggle for consistency in the league.
Meanwhile, celebrations are in full swing in Kumasi, with Kotoko now three points behind leaders Heart of Lions, signaling renewed hope in their title chase.
Hearts of Oak, on the other hand, have dropped to seventh place with 19 points from 13 matches, trailing their arch-rivals Kotoko, who now sit higher in the standings.
