According to Sports scientist Dr. Rajpal Brar, Ghana international Thomas Partey could be out of action between four to six weeks following the i jury picked up against Chelsea.
The Arsenal midfielder was in action on Sunday as the club hosted London rivals, Chelsea in a pre season friendly as part of their preparations for the upcoming season.
The Black Stars midfielder suffered a suspected ankle injury in the 40th minute of the game, which has left a mixed feeling among Arsenal fans, and Dr. Brar has revealed the player could be out of action for about four to six weeks.
Having suffered with injuries in his maiden season in England, the former Atletico Madrid star man was looking to start the new campaign a healthy man.
However the new set-back means he is set for another spell on the sidelines with the league set to begin in less than two weeks.
Dr. Rajpal Brar has also offered his opinion on how long he feels the Ghanaian could be out of action, comparing it to the situation of Harry Maguire.
“Found the specific mechanism of injury for Partey,” he wrote on Twitter. “This is typically indicative of a ‘high ankle sprain’ aka syndesmotic tear.
“These typically come with a 4-6 week return timeline if a grade 1 injury.
“Recent example is Harry Maguire.”
Should Partey’s injury be similar to that of the United captain, he could miss the Gunners first five matches of the 2021/22 campaign, meaning he returns for the game against Burnley on September 14.
His absence will definitely be a huge blow for manager Mikel Arteta, considering the midfielder has looked lively in all pre-season games so far.
