Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, are unfazed by the injury to defender Gideon Mensah ahead of their upcoming match against Madagascar.
Coach Chris Hughton expressed confidence that the team will be prepared for the game, emphasizing that Mensah’s absence presents an opportunity for another player to step up and contribute to the team’s success.
Speaking to the media in the lead-up to the match, Coach Hughton highlighted the competitive nature of the squad, stating that there is no definitive first eleven and that all players are eager to make their mark on the team.
He emphasized that the national team is composed of talented individuals who are pushing each other to earn starting spots.
“It’s an opportunity for somebody else. This is an international team. There is no absolute standout first 11. Whatever the squad is, whether 24 or 25, the players, they are all pushing to start,” Coach Chris Hughton said.
As part of their preparations, the Black Stars conducted a training session at the Accra Sports Stadium today.
They will continue their daily training at the stadium before departing for Madagascar on Friday, June 16, in readiness for the crucial encounter on Sunday, June 18.
