Jonathan Abbey Pobee, a well-known football administrator, has made a strong statement claiming that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has become the country’s third political party, alongside the NPP and NDC.
This statement comes in response to the recent announcement by former GFA Vice President George Afriyie, declaring his intention to run in the upcoming GFA elections.
According to Pobee, the GFA has transformed into a political entity, which is why individuals like George Afriyie are now interested in running for the presidency.
During an interview with Rainbow Radio, Pobee stated, “I’m not surprised, and I don’t even care because the GFA is now a complete political party and anyone can come out to contest.”
Furthermore, Pobee expressed his belief that both George Afriyie and the current GFA President Kurt Okraku lack the necessary competence and are undeserving of leading the Football Association.
“I have stated on numerous occasions following the nomination period that neither George Afriyie nor the current GFA President Kurt Okraku deserve to lead the GFA; their competence is low, they don’t have anything to offer,” he remarked.
The specific date for the GFA elections will be announced during the GFA’s 29th Extraordinary Congress scheduled to take place on July 10 in Kumasi.
