Malik Jabir, a former player and coach of Asante Kotoko, has publicly criticized the current management of the football club led by Nana Yaw Amponsah.
Asante Kotoko is one of the most successful football clubs in Ghana and has a large and passionate fan base.
Therefore, Jabir’s comments are likely to attract attention and generate discussions within the football community regarding the state of Asante Kotoko under Amponsah’s leadership. The club’s defense of the title they won last season has been disappointing due to inconsistent results and internal issues.
The Porcupine Warriors are currently being managed by assistant coach Abdul Gazale following the sacking of Burkinabe coach Seydou Zerbo after a defeat to Medeama SC.
Acoording to Jabir, “Nana Yaw Amponsah’s administration is the complete opposite of Asante Kotoko’s tradition and philosophy,” Jabir said in an interview with Kumasi-based Silver FM.
He also suggested that the owner should set tradition aside and look for investors who will join the club and expect returns.
“If the owner can probably set tradition aside and get investors whether they’re Ghanaians, foreigners, or whoever who will come and join the club because they have invested money in it and they expect returns I’m sure they will work better,”
Asante Kotoko is currently fifth in the league table and will face league leaders Aduana Stars in their next game.
