After just seven months in charge, Chelsea have sacked head coach Graham Potter following a 2-0 defeat by Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The decision was made after Potter oversaw just four wins this calendar year, leaving the club in 11th place in the Premier League table, 12 points off the Champions League places.
Despite enjoying a promising start by going nine games unbeaten, Potter struggled to turn things around after losing 4-1 to his former side, and was quickly under immense pressure to transform the club’s fortunes.
A statement from Chelsea announced Potter’s departure and thanked him for his efforts, and while the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have emerged as early favorites for the role, it remains to be seen who will replace him.
