Ghanaian defender Kennedy Boateng is elated that he will be tasting top-flight football next season with SV Ried after helping them secure promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga.
The WAFA Academy graduate won the Austrian second-tier league with SV Ried on the final day of competition last Friday.
His outstanding display in defence ensured his club clinched a spot to enjoy premier league football in the 2020/21 football season.
Speaking exclusively to SPORTSworldGhana.com, the 23-year old rocky defender expressed joy for his side’s qualification, stating their ‘hard work during the season really paid off’.
He says ” I think it has been a great season, its been a great season and also a rough season for we guys because you know during this time we had this coronavirus outbreak making things difficult for us but for me and my team we kept our focus very high,”
Boateng further stated that training hard during training sessions also played a key role in the club’s promotion to the Austrian elite league.
”We made sure we had to train and also give our 100% every time we trained and every time we played a game . It was really a fight for we guys to qualify for the first league and now we have qualified to play in the Bundesliga next season.
”Everyone at the club is happy and I am also happy because now we have qualified the team to the first league. We really worked hard for it and our hard work has really paid off,” He added.
Boateng who has one year left on his contract, scored one goal in 21 appearances for SV Ried in the just-ended season.
