Ghanaian striker Sampson Eduku has secured a permanent contract with Iraqi giants Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, according to confirmation from GHANAsoccernet.com.
The 27-year-old finalized negotiations and signed a one-year renewable contract in the presence of his representative, Ahmed Naef Almamoory, who facilitated the deal in Baghdad on Tuesday.
Eduku’s move to the Air Force Club comes after an impressive season in the Ghana Premier League, where he represented Tamale City FC.
Throughout the season, the highly-rated forward showcased his talents, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists in 27 appearances in the Ghanaian top-flight. He also earned four Man of the Match awards.
Before joining Tamale City at the start of the 2022-23 campaign, Eduku had a stint with Guinean side CI Kamsar for one season. His football journey includes experience with FC Samartex 1996, Sekondi Hasaacas, Elmina Sharks FC, and Karela United FC.
Eduku’s exceptional performances caught the attention of Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak and other African clubs, but he ultimately chose Al-Jawiya as his new destination.
He joins Wilson Akakpo, a former Berekum Chelsea defender, and former Black Stars midfielder Afriyie Acquah as the third Ghanaian player at Al-Jawiya.
Having finished as runners-up in the 2022-23 season, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya will compete in the upcoming season’s Asian Champions League.
