The Minister of Youth and Sports Isaac Kwame Asiamah praised Ghana Olympic Committee President Ben Nunoo Mensah for the key role he played in securing Youth Employment Agency (YEA) package for Ghanaian athletes.
The YEA inked a package to support Ghanaians Athletes for the six months with monthly stipends in the midst of COVID 19 pandemic.
Each athlete will receive a monthly stimulus package of GHC500 for the next six months.
The package covered both abled and disabled athletes who have severely been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the 26th ordinary Congress of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the sector minister acknowledged the hardworking COC boss for the groundbreaking deal.
“We recently announced a stimulus package for every Youth Sports in Ghana. The package is to provide immediate stimulation to upgrade the economy depart of covid-19 for our young men and women who have taken sports as their profession”, Asiamah told the Press.
The YEA in the next four/-five years will have about 5,000 athletes benefiting from this scheme.
